So much for conquering your fear of heights.
Yuntai Mountain Geological Park is quickly becoming a favorite tourist attraction in China. Recently though, something happened that may jeopardize that reputation.
On its already famed glass "mountain walkway," which at several points suspends nearly 3,500 feet above the ground, something pretty terrifying happened...
One of the glass panes cracked.
“Suddenly I heard a loud ‘bang’ and the path under my foot started shaking," said one visitor.
Sources reported that, while the walkway had been incident free up until now, the crack was caused by someone merely dropping a metal thermos on it.
As one could only assume, the incident caused hysteria and panic among many of the visitors.
“I don’t know what caused this, but at that second many people screamed. I shouted that it really broke! Then I pushed in front of people and ran. It was terrifying," another visitor said.
And just to give you some perspective, this is how high up visitors are taken on the mountain walkway.
Yuntai Mountain Geological Park representatives made a point of stating that each panel is comprised of several separate 2.7 cm thick panes, and that ultimately, everyone was able to be evacuated safely.
Extra panels or not, I don't trust walking on glass - especially when it's 3,500 feet off the ground.
NO THANKS.
