You might be a little afraid of bees, but they're an important and valuable part of our ecosystem. They're quickly disappearing, but this innovative solution could help to bring them back.Â
Over the last 10 years, Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD) has killed off tons of bees around the world.
Beekeepers expect to lose 10–15 percent of their hives each winter, but have been reporting losses of 30–90 percent since 2006.
The loss of bee is a result of a combination of pesticides, parasites, and a decline in wildflowers due to urbanization.
Seedles is an innovation by the Grow the Rainbow company that is working to bring back the bees.
Each wildflower seed "bomb" contains seeds packed in compost and brightly colored clay. In order to plant them, you just have to throw them on the ground and let the rain, sun, and soil do their work.
Six varieties of Seedles, one for each region of the country, exists. This way you can plant native flowers in your area.
They work as great educational tools for children.
