Photographer Toby Smith put together a captivating time-lapse video that chronicles the journey of the container ship Gunhilde Maersk as it travels from Ho-Chi Minh City, Vietnam to Ningbo, China to pick up a new load of shipping containers.
Perhaps the most fascinating part about the entire video though, is the fact that Smith didn't film any of it. The time-lapse is comprised entirely of photos taken with his Canon 5D MkIII - over 78,000 photos to be precise.
So, you wouldn't expect it, but this is pretty much one of those mesmerizing videos you'll ever see.
Of course, it helps that it's shot in majestic 4K.
Time lapses in general tend to be captivating, but the warm Vietnam sunrise and litany of rapidly shifting clouds make this one particularly entrancing.
Because of the highly accelerated film speed, at several moments, it looks as though the ship is hurling dangerously out of control.
When really, it's only going about 17 knots (20 mph).
But the really fascinating part comes when it arrives in China to be loaded.
