Burger King Just Got Shot Down by McDonald's in a Surprising Way
McDonald's and Burger King have been known as the world's biggest fast food competitors since most of us can remember. Can they work together to make peace and a new burger?Â
They bought full page ads in The New York Times and The Chicago Tribune with an open letter proposing to end the beef between them.Â
Burger King suggested Atlanta, as it's a midpoint between Miami, where they are headquartered and Chicago, which is where McDonald's corporate office is located. The restaurant would be run by employees of both companies and proceeds would benefit a nonprofit called Peace One Day which promotes the International Day of Peace (September 21), created by the UN in 1981.
But perhaps they'll collaborate on an even bigger plan soon. "We love the intention but think our two brands could do something bigger to make a difference," read a post on McDonald's Facebook page signed by CEO Steve Easterbrook.
