Using Hand-Cut Paper, This Lithuanian Artist Creates The Most Unbelievably Detailed Maps
Lithuanian artist Virgilijus Trakimavicius has a passion and skill different from most artists. As a cartographer, his greatest artistic love lies with maps and geography.
Using thick, cardboard stock paper, he creates incredibly accurate, to-scale maps of entire cities from around Europe that would make anyone want to travel to them and explore their streets.
“Most of my current works involve hand-cut paper sheets..."
"On these sheets, which are based on actual cities, I try to discover the fragments of an angel, the blossoming of a tree, the memories of my past travels, a likable street..."
"Everything involving the city that I have visited or intend to visit in the future†explains Trakimavicius on his website.
Never before has a map inspired me to travel so much.
