Recently, a Mexican mural artist collective called the "Germen Crew," who've been known to use street art as a means of cathartic expression, teamed up with the Mexican government in a project to beautify and unite the town of Palmitas.
What resulted was a remarkable and comprehensive makeover, in more than just one way.
The incredible painting project encompassed 209 houses and over 20,000 square meters of painted surfaces...
Ultimately, over 400 families and 1,800 people were positively impacted by the initiative.
Not only did it visually revitalize Palmitas...
It also radically reduced some of the violence in the town, while creating a multitude of part-time jobs for many of the younger citizens.
And now, not only is Palmitas one of the safest towns in the Pachula district area...
It's also the most beautiful.
