This mysterious church was built in the Indonesian jungle in 1990. It attracts hundreds of photographers and travelers every year to check out its bizarre, yet intriguing architectural makeup. Daniel Alamsjah, a 67-year-old man was working in Jakarta, 342 miles away from where the "Chicken Church" stands said he was told in a message from God that he should build the church.
He got the 3,000 square meters of land in Rhema Hill for £110, and dedicates it as a prayer house.
The dove-shaped prayer house attracts people of all religions to come and connect with their spirituality inside the pleasant aura of the structure.
It was rumored to be built as a place for rehabilitation for quite some time.
As monstrous as this appears, the place is only half done with its construction.Â
That is because Daniel had to close the doors in 2000 due to a lack of sufficient funds to continue building the prayer house.
The history of this place is basically unknown to most of the world.
That fact has left this as one of the most mythical abandoned places left on the planet.
Only through mass media and the sharing of the prayer house's story has this church began to be shared with the masses across the globe.
It has become a favorite among travelers and photographers.
While others even have their wedding ceremonies here, just because it is an overall holy place.
Wasno, a local, benefits from frequent visitors as he allows tourists to park at his home, then he guides them through the prayer house. The "Chicken Church" is considered one of the holiest places in the world to this day. Some feel as if they're in heaven as they enter.
It has many nicknames among enthusiasts…including: "Church Chicken," "Bird Church," "Church Dove," "Pigeon Hill" and "Prayer House."
