"Eccentric" just doesn't feel like a strong enough word.
Ever since he was young, Chicago-based photographer Justin Barbin has dressed creatively.
“My mom always encouraged me to dress in color,†he tells BuzzFeed. “Dressing well for me is a way that I show respect for myself.â€
Barbin’s work has steadily progressed from small, local coverage at his alma mater Northwestern University to renowned Broadway openings.
He's also a contract photographer for the Chicago Tribune and Huffington Post, on top of recently working on campaigns for Gillette and Nike.
While most in his field tend to dress pretty dapper, Barbin just shows everyone up and busts out these kind of outfits.
The monotone, all-black attire that's become stereotypical of photographers tends to deter some people, so he tries to make his outfits special, while still cohering with an event's common garb.
“I dress for whatever the occasion I’m attending as a sign of respect to the people I’m photographing.â€
Amidst the chaos of his busy schedule, Barbin still finds time to discover creative, new pieces for his outfits.
“Formal wear, especially for men, doesn’t have to be just your standard suit and tie combo in dark colors.â€
“It should be a sense of expression, it should be fun, it should be lighthearted and creative, and hopefully people can see that and be inspired.â€
