1. La Sagrada Familia's constuction started in 1882 and is still not yet complete. It is hopefully going to be complete in 2026, but construction could continue until 2040.

2.  Francisco Del Vilar was first going to design the building, but after disagreements, the design was passed on to Guadi.

3. Guadi disliked straight lines because they appeared to be unnatural. For this reason, he created the design based on curves seen throughout nature.

4. There are a ton of natural features that inspired the design. The inside features some support pillars that are shaped to look like trees with sea animals located at the base. This idea came about from Guadi's plan to show balance between land and sea.

5. In 1936 a group tried to burn down part of the building. Some of the plans drawn up were destroyed, but luckily there were enough saved to move forward with construction.

6. La Sagrada Familia is a UNESCO world Heritage site and can be toured by anyone willing to pay a small fee and (most likely) wait in line, as the site is extremely popular.

7. Gaudí spent more than 40 years of his life devoted to this amazing building.

8. Looking at La Sagrada Familia from above is really a site to behold. And it shows you just how massive the building really is.
