Here Is What A Typical Day In A Dietitian's Life Looks Like

by N/A, 10 years ago | 2 min read

Ever wonder what the dietitians of the world eat on a daily basis? Well, you're about to find out. This is an inside look at what Registered Dietician Jessica Jones usually eats in one day.

Jessica is a registered dietitian with her master's in nutrition. She spends her time teaching nutrition classes and counseling patients.

When she wakes up, she starts off the day with an 8 to 16-oz glass of "spa water".

Her water is simply tap water with mint and cucumber added in. She says starting off the day with water helps her reach the recommended intake for the day much easier.

She tries to eat breakfast within an hour of waking up and her go-to is a green smoothie.

Her recipe includes:

• 2 cups of spinach

• 1/2 cup of frozen pineapple

• 1 cup of nonfat, plain Greek yogurt

• 2 tablespoons of chia seeds

• 1 cup of unsweetened, vanilla almond milk

• 1 teaspoon of cinnamon

• 1 teaspoon of turmeric

• Pinch of nutmeg

YUMMM.
A little later in the morning, she has her first snack of the day.

She likes to have a Greek yogurt parfait by 11am. She chooses plain, nonfat Greek yogurt with a nice assortment of berries.

Her lunch routine starts with a quick, cardio workout.

Jessica says working out at lunch is her "midday caffeine boost:"

For lunch she'll sometimes have vegetable pot stickers with any extra veggies she has in her fridge.

Jessica says if she is at work, she'll throw this kind of lunch in the microwave. If she is working from home, she will steam it.

At 3 p.m. she will slice an apple and have her afternoon snack of apples with almond butter.

Sprinkle cinnamon on them for a little extra flavor.

For dinner she'll usually make a bigger portion of something and then eat it throughout the rest of the week.

Jessica tries to eat by 5:30 p.m. on most days. This delicious-looking dinner is a five-ingredient lasagna that doesn't have any pasta in it. Get the recipe here.

For dessert she made sweet potato pies and swears by them.

You can find the recipe here. Each pie is only about 75 calories and only has 5 grams of sugar.

And that is what one day might look like for Jessica Jones.

Here is a look at some of her numbers for the day:

Calories - 1619

Grams of fiber - 49

Total ounces of water - 64
