It sounds super simple and that's because it is. I'm sure you've been in plenty of college apartments that looked so grimy because the bathrooms were a disaster. Do better. 

If you're having guests over, but aren't a great baker, try this instead: fresh berries and some pieces of a chocolate bar arranged on a pretty plate will impress everyone. Simplicity is always best.

No one will able to see dust, if they can't see. Dim your lights or light a bunch of candles. 

Everyone would just look a little more together with a bowl of fresh fruit on their dining room table. Plus, lemons have so many uses. You can flavor a meal with lemon zest, juice or slices, make fresh lemonade, or use a slice or a wedge to garnish a drink.

Fancy mineral water is much more impressive than questionable tap water.

This works for two reasons: 1) Cover up an accidental red wine stains that Scandal has caused you to ruin you couch with and 2) Show off your personality and/or your decorating prowess rather easily.

When you have people over, hide the things you use on a regular basis and put pretty things on display.

Get your hands on a succulent or a jade plant. They're notoriously hard to kill and you'll look so responsible without having to do any work. 

Your guests will be overwhelmed by your strong tea game. 

Leave a bookmark in it and hope no one asks you what it's about...or actually read a little every night like a real adult. 

Displaying things like pasta, rice, cereal or sugar in glass jars will give your space a rustic feel.
