This Guy Saved A Chunk Of Change By Building His Own Camper, And Look At These Results

This guy didn't have any experience building a camper like this, but he tried it out and it ended up looking pretty great. Take a look at his work below and just imagine how tough it would be to start this completely from scratch.Â
This is what the trailer looked like that he started with
He first installed the flooring so he could insulate the camper.
He then started building the walls
And admits that he had no idea what to do next so he started to cut out frames so the walls could fit together
He then set up the walls and put the installation down
Next it was time to start working on the curved pieces of the frame
He eventually added two door frames and started the electrical wiring of the camper.
After that, he started to cut out the frame of the door
He said he had to use a lot of staples and glue to get the walls to stay in place.
Once the roof was added, he had to cut out a hole for the camper's vent fan
And then he started adding support for the roof.
Next he started building the doors to the camper and had to make sure they fit the frame on both sides.
Creating the kitchen area came next!
And adding some exterior insulation too
He then had to slowly curve the plywood pieces. He said this was a very long and tedious process
But the kitchen was coming together quite nicely!
It took him 3 times to get a hatchback design to work in order to cover the kitchen
He then started installing the exterior siding. He chose aluminum because he thought it would look the coolest.
In the corner there is an area where he can plug his phone in and charge it
His grandpa helped him out with the charging station. His grandpa wanted to be a part of this project but was too old to get out and do a lot of the work. This was a nice compromise for him to be able to help!
Unfortunately, he had some trouble with the hatchback. The 3rd attempt, which he thought was finally going to work, broke like all the other ones.
He ended up having to do some extra research on how to figure out the hatchback situation. He said it took him about 2 months to get back at it and finally finish the camper.Â
He stained the wood on the outside by the kitchen area and on the inside of the camper as well
And finally! Here is the finished product when he got to test out the camper at Guadalupe River State Park.
Here is the builder and the finished camper, he says the entire project took him about 2 months to totally complete.
It's crazy to think how much work goes into something like this. You don't really think about it until you have to do something like this yourself. To check out more details about this guy's journey you can see it here.
