Some Homophobic Hater Tried to Diss This Guy's Jeopardy Performance...then He Got OWNED

by N/A, 10 years ago | 2 min read

When Louis Virtel was on Jeopardy, he may not have been able to predict the sensation that would have been started by one small gesture of his.

Louis Virtel is a comedian and a writer. He writes for the online publication HitFix. He also happens to be an out gay man.

When he appeared on Jeopardy recently, he had one absolutely incredible reaction when he got a Daily Double correct, and it has gone all kinds of viral.

His reaction here is absolutely everything. It is everything that you feel when you're under a lot of pressure but you come out on top like a damn boss.
On a piece he wrote for HitFix, Virtel discussed how this glorious snap, and the fact that it most likely shone light on his own sexuality, along with several other moments, was something he absolutely didn't regret. In fact, his one regret was very different.

And yet, I have a regret -- one unrelated to gameplay. If you watch the show, I'm slamming around on the buzzer with a wrist flicked up to heaven. I'm coltish in my feminine movements. I gush about meeting Jane Fonda, my favorite movie star of all time, during my contestant interview. I snapped my fingers at the camera during my introduction; I snapped again with full "In Living Color" gusto after I responded correctly on a Daily Double. Before the closing credits, I posed like Linda Evangelista with a ladylike arm in the air. It all felt fantastic and organic, a reflection of my obsession with the show. But I hate, hate, hate that I didn't just say "I'm gay" on air.

No regrets there!!!

But recently on Twitter, when the homophobic haters started coming around, like they do, Virtel shut them THE FUCK DOWN and we loved every second of it.
