On May 13, Harry Shearer, the phenomenal voice actor from The Simpsons who lent his voice to characters such as Ned Flanders, Mr. Burns and Principal Skinner (among many others), announced he would be leaving the television show, now at the end of its 26th season.Â
It is clear from some tweets of Shearer's that a conflict over his ability to work on other projects is at the heart of his decision to leave. He has suggested he'd be open to negotiate something if he WAS allowed to do other work.Â
Here are the tweets of Shearer's:
Though it seems possible something could be worked out where Shearer would stay on if the show's leaders let him do other work, just in case he doesn't, we want to honor his genius by featuring out favorite moments from his wonderful, hilarious characters:
8. Ned Flanders's extraordinary freakout.
7. This glorious read-through of Harry Potter with the most classic Flanders ending imaginable.
6. Ned Flanders as the Devil is one of the best hallucinations Homer has ever had.
5. Arguably the best Flanders moment of all time—stupid sexy Flanders.
4. Mr. Burns on Ether is actually the best Mr. Burns...until the end, that is.
3. The absolute best endorsement Mitt Romney ever received in 2012.
2. The only better involvement of Mr. Burns in politics was when he decided to run for office himself.
1. And finally, this moment of Principal Skinner trying desperately to connect with women over feminism...and failing in such a fantastic fashion.
We will miss you!!!
