1. Travel can change your personality.

The big five personality traits, openness, neuroticism,  extraversion, conscientiousness and agreeableness are the dominant traits of your personality. People who immerse themselves in new cultures are more likely to exhibit more openness in their personalities.

2. Your skin will take a hit while you travel.

Low humidity during flights can really effect your skin and cause acne. Expect to get off your flight feeling a little less fabulous than usual.

3. Your diet will change.

Just give up on dieting when you're in a foreign country. You might go home a few pounds heavier but you'll hate denying yourself the tasty local fare.

4. You won't be doing as much exercise.

You'll probably do a lot of walking to get from place to place wherever you've traveled, but if you're used to a more rigorous workout, don't expect to get one in while you're abroad.

5. You'll gain a new perspective.

Seeing how other people live will definitely give you a new point of view on your own upbringing.

6. Jet lag will exhaust you.

It will take a full day for your body to readjust every time you move to a different time zone.

7. Flying causes fatigue and headaches.

The air pressure in the cabin during your flight can lead to altitude sickness.

8. Travel can help you get better at rolling with the punches.

All of the changes and new experiences that come along with travel can help handle day-to-day changes a lot better.

9. You'll get a rush of adrenaline.

Going on excursions in exotic locales will give you a rush you just can't get at home.

10. Speaking another language will make your brain work more effectively.

Your brain will work faster and become stronger and you'll build better relationships with locals when you speak their language.

11. You'll be much more aware.

When everything is new to you, you'll have so much more to appreciate. You'll be much more aware of your surroundings in order to make sure you're safe, but also because every little thing will be exciting.

12. You'll be much more susceptible to falling in love.
