Stephen Colbert may be most famous for his snark and political parody, but his most recent gesture towards educators in South Carolina is no joke—it is seriously beautiful.Â
Colbert is donating $800,000 to educators in South Carolina, something he announced May 7th.
Specifically, he announced he'd grant every single request that was made from South Carolina on the website DonorsChoose.org.
Donors Choose is a crowd-funding site that is geared towards education.Â
Colbert himself is from the South Carolina public school district, and it's clear he still feels very passionately about empowering young people in the area through education.
Projects for more than 800 teachers at more than 375 different schools will be funded—I mean that is INCREDIBLE.Â
See Colbert? That's him on a live-video feed through Alexander Elementary (a school in Greenville, SC). This is how he made the official announcement.
I bet there were some pretty excited people watching that video!
He made the announcement (very fittingly) during Teacher Appreciation Week, and we think it's a pretty phenomenal way to show appreciation to teachers.
WE LOVE YOU, STEPHEN! Knowledge is power, and you're helping bring knowledge to many!
