LA Designer Emily McDowell was told when she was 24 that she had stage 3 Hodgkin's lymphoma. 14 years later, she is is cancer-free and is designing cards that she calls Empathy Cards. She says they all have messages on them she wishes she had received when she was going through her own sickness. You can buy the cards on her site, EmilyMcDowell.com.
McDowell said she has wanted to work on this project for a long time.
She hopes the cards "help people connect with each other."
She wrote that so many cards on the market now end up falling short of expressing a meaningful sentiment.
She creates each card in Photoshop and they're available on her website to buy.
“‘Get well soon’ cards don’t make sense when someone might not.â€
