Photographer Blake Morrow has many impressive works to his name, but none as uniquely creative as the one he came up with when his friend Beth asked him to do a series of before-and-afters for her gastric bypass-surgery.
When Beth approached Morrow about the idea, he immediately had a vision for it.
And quickly, they decided on its name:Â The Beth Project.
Rather than going the boring, conventional route, he decided to get creative...
Really creative. He had a load of ideas for the scenes they could do.
“I was immediately obsessed with the idea,†Morrow said. “I love before-and-after stuff — be it home re-dos or weight loss comparisons. Creating this imagery with Beth was a chance to add to that lore, but to try something different.â€
Many of the scenes Morrow and Beth elected to recreated are pop culture references.
Where he has Beth play the two main characters.
From the movie "Frida."
The project was two years in the making, and shows Beth’s incredible weight loss of 150 pounds in playful, humorous ways.
While Morrow relied on photoshop for things like color enhancement and cropping both images of Beth into the same scene...
He made a point of not altering Beth's appearance in any way.
“I was determined to use it in a way that would encourage and inspire people while being true to the heart of my subject.â€
And now, 150 pounds and one brilliantly creative photoshoot later, Beth is one driven woman.
