It seems like space would just be a soundless vacuum, totally vacant of any noise, right? It's not like you'd have to worry about the whir of traffic. And can sound even HAPPEN in space?Â
The answer is...yes, but it's not quite the sound you may imagine. Luckily, recordings exist of such sounds for us Earth-folk to appreciate! Technically, they're electromagnetic waves that originally couldn't be heard, but have been converted into something we can hear.Â
The Symphonies of the Planets, released by NASA in the early 1990s, are recordings of converted electromagnetic waves that were taken from the data of the Voyager missions from 1977.
I mean, seriously...could space BE any more fascinating!?
