Kermit The Frog Has Never Really Looked Quite Like an Actual Frog...Until Now

by N/A, 10 years ago | 1 min read

For years, many have wondered about Kermit the Frog's quizzical appearance - some deeming it "un-frog-like." And admittedly, it's hard not to think similarly and ask yourself "What frog - or what amphibian, even - were they basing him off of??"

Well, you can rest soundly tonight, because that's officially been answered.

Just recently, Kermit's real life dopplegänger was discovered in the Caribbean foothills of Costa Rica: "Diane's Bare-hearted Glassfrog"

It's totally him! The bulging white eyes, the bright green coloring, the awkward face...Kermit the Frog, in the freaking flesh, everyone.

The only major real major difference Kermit's real life twin has from him physically (other than not being a puppet), is his translucent underbelly.

Scientists Brian Kubicki, Stanley Salazar and Robert Puschendorf all discovered the frog living between 400 and 800 meters up in the Costa Rican mountains.

Muppet creators, you have your next movie idea...
