When You See What This Artist Does With Paper You'll Be Seeing Things In A New Dimension

Artist Matthew Shlian isn't your normal artist - not even close. Actually, he's more somewhere between a sage geometrist and an origami savant - even though, that description doesn't really do his work complete justice.
With a keenly intuitive understanding of geometry and an extremely unique artistic skill set, Shlian creates mesmerizing, 3D paper creations that are as visually mystifying as they are beautiful.
His self-repeating creations are completely handmade.
And in geometrically technical terms, they are "modular, polyhedral forms"...
Which sounds about as confusing as his creations look.
Shlian's inspiration for his interest in these "self-repeating nano scale designs" comes from a place you probably wouldn't expect.
What the artist is most fascinated by, is, " the micro patterning of nature, the structures we find on the nanoscale."
In other words, our whole world is anatomically composed of patterns and structures like these...
And Shlian's aim is to find beautiful ways to bring them to life.
Suffice it to say, he's hitting his mark with brilliance.
