This Nonprofit Created Something That Will Help Third World Countries Like Never Before

by N/A, 10 years ago | 2 min read

Sometimes, the best way to solve a big problem, is with a simple solution. That's the mantra of Because International, a philanthropic non-profit dedicated to "practical compassion" - altruistic ideas that solve real needs in a real way.

It began when founder and executive director, Kenton Lee, was in Nairobi, Kenya, and noticed a young girl with shoes that were drastically too small for her feet - one of millions of children with the same problem. So he thought to himself, "What could be done to fix this? How could this be changed?" After brainstorming fervently, Lee came up with "The Shoe That Grows."

"The Shoe That Grows" is exactly what you'd expect it to be...
A shoe that expands - 5 full sizes to be exact.

Even better, they last 5 years and are made with high quality, durable materials.

According to Because International,  "There are over 300 million children who do not have shoes. And countless more with shoes that do not fit."

The shoe expands in three different places: the toe, the width, and the heel.

Children without shoes are vulnerable to injuries, deformation, and parasites that infect a person through their feet, some of which are life-ending.

All a child has to do is adjust the buttons as their feet grow.

Millions of shoes are donated to disenfranchised areas of third world countries each year, but are soon outgrown by many children, often within the first year.

And as you can see, they're making a big difference in the lives of children.

With "Shoes That Grow," this problem is solved, as children are given durable, protective shoes that they can comfortably wear for 5 years, during the most significant period of growth of their lives. If you'd like to help provide a pair of "Shoes That Grow" for a child in a third world country, be sure to check out their donation page! Each pair costs only $10.
