1. A realistic sense of confidence.

Confidence and arrogance aren't one in the same. True confidence comes from knowing how to operate within your strengths and weaknesses. It's not about thinking you're the best, but knowing what you're the best at.

Being able to have a conversation and really take in the information without interrupting is something you'd think most adults have mastered, but a lot of people struggle with it. If you're able to listen and give someone else the floor, that's a sign of emotional intelligence.

A sense of self-awareness and truly knowing how you're going to react in a situation is a sign of emotional intelligence. 

5. Exhibiting empathy.

Being able to easily read and understand the feelings of others on a deep level is another trait of the emotionally intelligent. 

6. You never give up.

A high sense of self-motivation is another sign of emotional intelligence. 

7. A calming personality.

Being able to put people at ease is a great sign of emotional intelligence. 

8. Not breaking under pressure, but recovering.

Even when things get tough, the emotionally intelligent person doesn't get rattled easily. They know how to recover and find a solution. 

9. You can see more than one side of a situation.

If you're able to look at the lives of other and see their point-of-view, you're probably pretty emotionally intelligent. 

10. Being able to confront someone maturely.

Rather than let things blow up, someone with a high degree of emotional intelligence will be able to tactfully discuss a problem they're having without having it turn into a bigger issue.
