There are multiple definitions for many words, but sometimes, none of them are remotely close to what we really mean when we use them, or what they actually are in our minds.

For example, "rain boots" formally, are something like, "shoes specifically designed to repel rain and keep one's feet dry." But to many, rain boots might be more along the lines of "oversized kid-booties certain women wear to make a fashion statement, or conform with fashion trends, regardless of whether or not it's raining."
