Artist, Ron Schroer, created a wooden version of an old, penny-farthing bicycle with a "walking-drive" system that was inspired by "The Strandbeest," a brilliant and complex, self-propelling kinetic system designed by artist Theo Jensen.Â
Schroer constructed the brilliantly designed wooden sculpture for the 2014 OneSpark Festival in Jacksonville, Florida, just missing 1st place in the "Art" category.
It may look like just a wooden version of an old, boring penny-farthing bike, but it is most certainly far from it...
The "walking-drive" is what sets it apart, and it does not disappoint.
Just take a look at it in motion - and focus on the back portion of the bike.
Look at that sassy walk! Movin' like a woman who knows how to wear a pair of heels LOL.
