Computer science student and graphics expert, Erik Roystan Ross, made an entirely revamped, high-definition version of the first level of Super Mario 64, "Bob-omb Battlefield," completely on his own and it's making Nintendo fanatics swoon.
Using the program, Unity 3D, Ross structurally enhanced and clarified each aspect of the level manually, which as you could assume, took a bit of time. Not only is his beefed up version impeccably faithful to the original layout and gameplay, but it fills you with the overwhelming desire beat the classic all over again.
It started of as a demonstration piece for another project Ross was working on, his "Super Character Controller"
But wound up becoming it's own full-fledged project.
As Ross admittedly puts it, he "got a little carried away."
Sadly though, due to Nintendo copyright issues, Ross's playable HD level had to be taken down from his site.
But you can still watch the amazing gameplay in the video here!
