This Chinese Father and Son Just Built Insane Life-Sized Transformers From Car Parts

by N/A, 10 years ago | 2 min read

Whatever movie or show you claim to be the world's biggest fan of, no matter how obsessive your love for it is, or how much memorabilia you own, nothing you do or say could possibly convince anyone that your fan-hood is as intense as this father-son duo's is for "Transformers."

Yu and Lu Zhilin of southeastern China, have developed a lucrative business making giant sculptures reminiscent of the movie's massive metal robots out of old car parts. Usually, they're creations would range anywhere from a few feet tall, to near 10 feet. And with "Transformers" being incredibly popular in China, business boomed almost immediately.

But recently, the two endeavored to create something bigger and better - something truly mind-blowing: life-sized replicas of the movie's two robot frontmen.

Lu (left) and Yu, and their epic recreations of Bumblebee and Optimus Prime

The two robots are made entirely of unwanted automobile parts (free, mind you) and are over 20 feet tall. Talk about a project!

Lu has been apprenticing under his father for several years now.
And it looks like he's picking things up pretty well.
The two turn "useless" scraps like these...
Into creations like this. Of course, Yu and Lu wanted to go bigger though.
Much bigger...
When the local media caught wind of the pair's work, they had to get the story.
Because these are just RIDICULOUSLY AWESOME.
