Imagine a world where going to your local bar isn't something worth feeling any sort of guilt over...in fact, it's something that actually does a lot of real good.Â
We know this sounds like some sort of crazy utopia, but it's not. This is the case of the Oregon Public House.Â
Let us introduce you to your new favorite form of charity—the Oregon Public House.
The pub is the world's first nonprofit pub, and it opened in 2013. It's located in the nonprofit capital of America—Portland, Oregon.
The pub was opened under the pretense of creating an environment where charity could be celebrated, instead of seeming like an obligatory task.Â
The "philanthropub" allows you to pick a charity when you go in for some food or a few choice beverages, and 100% of the net profits go towards whichever charity you choose.
The Oregon Public House donated a whopping $25,000 to charity in their first year, and are looking to ramp up those numbers so that they can donate $10,000 per month.
One of the founders, Ryan Saari, describes the pub as a "community center for change and action," and we completely agree. It's the tastiest center for change and action we've ever heard of!
