11 Facts From a 1993 Nintendo Guide That Will Change the Way You See the Game
Have you ever wondered about Mario's favorite music? Or why Bowser is so angry all the time? Well luckily, in 1993 Nintendo published an internal guide for artists that author Blake J. Harris got a hold of and published some of the most interesting tidbits on his site Press The Buttons.
The guide states he is "unflagging in his for crusade for justice and clean bathroom fixtures."
That's really the only reason he's waging war on the Mushroom Kingdom.
Which, when you look at him, makes a lot of sense.
Which may explain why he's so bent on saving The Mushroom Kingdom...does he plan on taking it over himself? A little weird.
He spent his childhood helping Mario in the plumbing business.
His favorite types of music include "either opera or new-wave, high-techno Euro pop."Â
Of course, Mario is a man, but according to the book, his actual binomial nomenclature is homo nintendonus.
"T. Yoshisaur Munchakoopas." We like Yoshi better.
How did he avoid the war? Well of course he "was off visiting relatives in the Fungus Federation at the time of the Koopa War."Â
Even though their names are strangely familiar, Wario and Mario aren't related, but they are childhood friends. According to the guide, Wario eventually got jealous of Mario because of his talent as a plumber, and because of his good looks. (I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I'm all about Wario's mustache over Mario's.)
Princess Peach (also known as Princess Toadstool in some countries) is also the "only hope for the reanimation of the mushroom people." She also uses her magic to keep her clothes clean when she's been captured by Bowser.
