Supermarket cakes are cheap and tasty, but let's be honest...there's a time and a place. These cakes are not always for the most elegant of events.Â
But A Practical Wedding has decided that this doesn't have to be the case...there might just be a DIY option to class up even the most tacky of grocery store cakes!
The cheap cake game can be pretty rough. Take this birthday cake for Paul.
Are those balloons, or is this a unique way of celebrating the sperm that eventually lead to Paul's conception?Â
For this tutorial, let's start with a cake that's just as tacky, but perhaps a little less sperm-y.
First, you'll want to get rid of all those truly unfortunate balloon designs.
After that take a fresh, real flower, and place it on top of the cake.
After that, take some simple but elegant ribbon and drape it around the outside of the cake.
All of a sudden...
You've got a legitimately classy cake!
This is something I'd be proud to share with friends.
If you want to go for something even fancier, maybe for a fiscally responsible wedding, opt for a similar routine on a round cake.
