In Northern Europe in the 16th Century, things called "prayer nuts" became very popular amongst religious practicers. Whether or not religion's your thing, anyone can appreciate the craftsmanship and uniqueness of these carved objects.Â
To be clear, they're not actual nuts. They're wooden carvings, but the pieces of wood are about the size of a walnut.
Along with being an emblem of one's faith, prayer nuts were very expensive, and were a symbol of wealth.
Whatever your belief is, it's impossible to deny how absolutely amazing these little tiny pieces of art are.
That's a pretty fascinating nut!
