Remember when you would get a brand new pack of crayons when you were little? And remember when you would accidentally break one of them and it was the worst thing in the world? Well not anymore! This craft gives you a way to use broken crayons and turn them into magnificent candles.
*Important* This craft involves hot, melted wax, so be extra careful when touching it!
The materials you’ll need are: Dixie Cups, Crayons, Wax, Candle holder/glass jar, Popsicle sticks, and Wicks (available on Amazon).
You will also need a microwave and a plate stand/bent metal coat hanger for holding up the candles.
Step one: Use a dixie cup and melt a small amount of wax in your microwave. Once melted, stir it and pour it into your glass jar or candle holder, then place your candlewick in the center of the jar and the wax. Let it harden.
Step two: Pick your colors. Once you know what colors you want for your candle, fill a dixie cup with wax and one crayon.
Microwave for two minutes and stir. Then microwave again for two minutes until it is totally melted.
Step three: Putting it all together! Prop your jar on the plate holder or anything sturdy and pour in your first color. Let it dry for 20 to 30 minutes.
Then turn your jar at a different angle and add a second layer of color. Again let it dry for 20 to 30 minutes. Finally add one last layer of color to complete your jar!
Step four: Make sure your candle dries for at least an hour before lighting it. And there you go! Now you have a perfectly crafty new candle!
So cute!
