For his capstone project, graduate architect student, Hank Butitta, decided to think outside the box...well outside.
It began with an idea, of course. First, Hank concluded that he wanted his project to be mobile. So what did he do? He bought a bus - an oldschool, retro one for $3,000 to be precise. He knew he needed to spend a little bit of money if he was going to make the most of his project, so he dropped another $6,000 on renovations, which ended up involving dimmable LED lighting, and recycled gymnasium flooring, among other awesome features.
After completing the bus, Hank decided to travel across the country in it with his friends, chronicling their journey on its website, hankboughtabus.com. Their escapades are enviable to say the least. What began as an idea, resulted in the experience of a lifetime.
Hank installs the final components and finishes the last few modifications
Behold, the real magic school bus
Fully furnished and beautifully adorned with cured maple wood
Complimented by tons of natural light. Hank's architectural acumen obviously was the driving force (pun intended)
With beds in the front...
AND in the back. Along with a functional roof hatch for the ultimate scenic view
And of course, what's a road trip without road trip shenanigans
The definition of "riding in style"
Oh, and did I mention the furniture is convertible? The arrangement options are practically endless
And if you want to whip up a meal on the road, that's no problem either
Of course, when you're driving across the country, it pays to stop and soak up the scenery every once in a while
...or just at any moment you have the chance
Who in their right mind wouldn't want to travel the country in this?
And you don't have to go outside to observe the beauty of nature
There's a bird's eye view of it 24/7
Wherever the destination, this bus would make any trip infinitely more enjoyabe
Especially if you got to share it with others
Lord knows I'd be traveling the country with my friends and stargazing each night too
Each day presents presents a new journey. Who could ever pass up an expedition on a bus like this?
