Toy Story 2: The movie that almost never was.
According to Pixar co-founder Ed Catmull, there was one fateful day when the movie was almost completely destroyed.
Someone on staff had entered this line of code: /bin/rm-r-f *.
This is a command that ultimately removes binary files from every directory on the computer, without question, and recursively. Yikes!
The entire movie started erasing itself before the eyes of its creators. People were in a TOTAL panic.
But by some chance of luck, Galyn Susman, supervising technical director, had at one point had to take nearly the entire movie home with her to work on, and had back up files on her home computer.
They brought the computer into the office, treating it like a piece of ancient treasure, and recovered a great deal of the movie. Phew!
