J. Cole experienced some hard times as a child, but remembers distinctly one moment that felt like a step forward. He's now working to recreate that special moment for families that are facing similar struggles to him and his mother.
J. Cole, rap and hip-hop extraordinaire and recent advocate for justice in Ferguson, is working towards creating a safe haven for mothers struggling to make ends meet for their children.
J. Cole was raised in a trailer park in a rough neighborhood in North Carolina, but remembers the time his family moved into a new, safer home.
But when his stepfather left and J. Cole was in college, his mother called to tell him the mortgage hadn't been paid in a very long time. The house ultimately went to foreclosure. J. Cole's mother had to move out.
Now, J. Cole has bought back this original house, the dream house he moved to from the trailer park, and is turning it into a safe haven for single mothers with multiple children, where they can live rent-free for two years.
We think this is absolutely INCREDIBLE and we applaud J. Cole!
