1. She spent over a million dollars recreating her childhood home.
The home she grew up in with 11 siblings didn't even have indoor plumbing.
2. She's Miley Cyrus's godmother.
Although she never participated in an official ceremony, she is friends with Miley Cyrus's dad Billy Ray Cyrus, and he did ask her to be Miley's godmother.
3. She's been threatened by the KKK.
After her amusement park Dollywood began participating in "Gay Days," an event that opens parks to members of the LGBT community and their families, she received death threats from the group.
4. Even though others might consider it a flop, she's proud of the work she did in the comedy musical Rhinestone.
The counts her work on the soundtrack of the musical, which was about a country singer and NYC cabbie, to be among her best work.

She founded her library, Dolly's Imagination Library in 1995 to promote children's literacy in Tennessee. The program now provides free books to children across the U.S., Canada, the U.K. and Canada.

Elvis's manager reached out to have him cover her song "I Will Always Love You," but wanted half of the publishing rights. She decided not to, so he never covered the song. However, Whitney Houston's version from The Bodyguard definitely paid off for Dolly.
7. Dolly, the cloned sheep, was named after Dolly Parton.
The scientists who created Dolly the sheep created her using an adult male's somatic cell from a mammary gland. Researchers thought the name was appropriate because of Dolly's big bust.
8. She owns and amusement park, but hates rides because she gets motion sickness.
9. She once entered a Dolly Parton look-a-like contest and lost.
The contest was for men in drag, so she went in with an exaggerated version of her usual look and didn't even come close to winning.
10. Her hometown has honored her with a statue.
Her bronze statue can be found in Sevierville, Tennessee and was created to commemorate the philanthropic work she's done in the town as well as the work she's done to increase tourism.
