"Total cloud inversion" sounds like something out of a strange sci-fi movie, but it's actually a real scientific process that yields stunning results.
When warm air traps cold, wet air, it releases a layer of clouds.
One place where inversions are easily identified is the Grand Canyon.
There was a recent inversion at the end of 2014 that yielded an especially terrific cloud inversion.
It ends up looking like something out of a painting.
