Over 9,200 people submitted entries from more than 150 countries to the 2014 National Geographic Photo Contest. They included both professional and amateur photographers participating in three categories: people, places, and nature.
A panel of experts judged each photo on creativity and photographic quality to determine the grand prize winner. The grand prize included $10,000, as well as a trip to Washington D.C. to participate in the annual National Geographic Photography Seminar. But that’s not it! Even the first place winner of each category receives $2,500 and their photo is published in National Geographic Magazine.
