5. Its main ingredient is named after an Italian theatre mask.
The chocolate and hazelnut spread gianduia, is named after the Italian commedia dell'arte character Gianduja, an Italian peasant. Nutella used to be called Pasta Gianduja.
6. Nutella has set a Guinness World Record.
Nutella's 40th anniversary breakfast, held in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, was held in 2005, but still holds the world record for largest continental breakfast. There were over 27,000 attendees.
7. There was a time when children could get their hands on Nutella for free in Italy.
An event called "The Smearing" would take place where children could bring a slice of bread to certain markets to get some Nutella.
