It was tradition for villagers in the area to bury their dead in tomb's under their cathedral.
Some bodies were rearranged around 1647. Villagers were stunned when they found about 40 mummies in the tomb.

There is a parasitic fungus that lives in the tomb called Hypha tombicina.
This fungus dries out a body before it has started to decompose.
