Giuseppe Arcimboldo's work is full of intricate details. The complex nature of his art makes his work look modern, but it's not.
Although his collage-like paintings could easily been seen in a gallery today, Arcimboldo is actually known as a Mannerist painter. This is because his work dates back to 1520-1590 and has similar elements to the High Renaissance and Baroque periods.
He centers a lot of his work around religious figures, but due to its odd nature, art critics wondered if his work was the result of genius or insanity.
