This Was Once An Abandoned Walmart...But Now It's Something Much Greater

Walmart is not the most inspiring of places.
Between multiple instances of muckraking over the last few years that have exposed terrible employee conditions, as well as rampant child labor abuse over seas, it has become a sort of cautionary tale of big business.
But when this building that was formerly a Walmart went abandoned, what this town in Texas decided to do with it is one of the more inspiring things you'll see today.
The town is McAllen, Texas, and what was one a Walmart is now an incredible library.
And not just any library...it's now the largest single-floor library in the United States.
They took a building that once stood for terrible consumer experiences, and made it a center of knowledge.
Because Walmarts are always so inordinately large, they were able to take advantage of all the space and do some awesome things with it.
There are more than 60 computer labs, 10 computer labs just for children, 14 public study rooms and 16 public meeting spaces. Oh...and books as far as the eye can see!
On top of all that, it's just plain COOL looking.
This has got to be the greatest transformation of a Walmart in American history!
