What was Weight Watchers thinking when they created these diet recipes in the 1970s?!
When writer Wendy McClure stumbled upon these vintage diet recipe cards, she couldn't help but make them into a book. When you see how grotesque some of these concoctions are, you'll be thankful she didn't decide to bake them. Check out some of the most cringe-worthy recipe cards below.
This book by McClure holds the secrets to many unappetizing recipes. Try them if you dare!
1. Molded Asparagus Salad.
For some reason, the combination of tomato juice and gelatin doesn't sit well with me.
2. Frankfurter Spectacular.
Hot dogs shaped like a pineapple? Why not.
3. Rosy Perfection Salad.
Nothing is perfect about this.
4. Fluffy Mackerel Pudding.
5. Chilled Celery Log.
Nothing about the word "log" sounds appetizing...Ever.
6. Broiled Appleburgers.
Real meat? Yay! But add apples too, just to suck the fun out of it.
7. Frozen Cheese Salad.
The broccoli is uncooked. Enjoy.
8. Stuffed Lettuce Wedges.
9. Peach Melba.
All dishes must be served with a ceramic cheetah.
10. Spinach And Egg Mold.
11. Jellied Tomato Refresher.
What's with all the jelly?!
12. Cucumber "Cream" Salad.
13. Inspiration Soup.
Absolutely nothing inspiring about this soup.
14. Snacks On A Stick.
This isn't chocolate ice cream... It's our favorite food - gelatin!
15. Perfect Pizza Lunch.
They throw around the word "perfect" a lot. This isn't perfect. Nor is it pizza.
16. Liver Pate En Masque.
This one makes me want to cry.
17. Fruit And Cheese Mold.
18. Fish With "Butter" Sauce.
Have caution with quotation marks around the word butter.
19. Lettuce Potage.
20. Fish "Tacos".
Whoever wanted to associate this with a taco is so wrong. Please have a seat.
21. Madrilene-Cheese Salad.
It's honestly a miracle Weight Watchers is still around today.
22. Saving the best for last... Crown Roast Of Frankfurters!
What a beauty this one is!
