Disney rides are some of the best out there. They range from being family-friendly, thrilling and true to the movies that inspired them. However, not all of the rides you see at the parks today were the originals when the park opened. Here are some the original rides you may have missed out on.

1. Delta Dreamflight -- Disney World, 1989-1998

This ride was designed in partnership with Delta Airlines and was used to encourage passengers to travel the world. It was later replaced with Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin.

2. Adventure Thru Space -- Disneyland, 1967-1985

This simulator "shrunk" guests down to microscopic size so they could explore molecules. It was later replaced by Star Tours.

3. Astro Jets -- Disneyland, 1956-1966

This ride is a classic and was actually replaced by a more modern version of the same ride.

4. Journey Into Imagination -- Disney World, 1983-1998

The original ride featured a character called "Dreamfinder" and focused, unsurprisingly, on the journey through dreams. Today "Journey Through Imagination With Figment" features Figment the Dragon and focuses on the five senses.

5. People Mover -- Disneyland, 1967-1995

This ride is still standing, but is no longer in operation. It was a 16-minute cart ride that transported people around the park.

6. Flying Saucers -- Disneyland, 1961-1966

This ride was great for children, but caused many problems for larger guests who wanted to experience it.

7. Rainbow Caverns Mine Train -- Disneyland, 1956-1977

This ride has been replaced twice. Once for a more updated version featuring animatronic animals and again to construct Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, which has since also been removed.

8. Rainbow Mountain Coach Ride -- Disneyland, 1956-1959

Although this seems like a great ride, the carriages would sometimes tip over, resulting in injured or stranded guests.

9. Phantom Boats -- Disneyland, 1955-1956

This was the first ride removed from the park. Initially, they were just boats that guests could ride around the lagoon. In order to make them a little more exciting, they were redesigned with tail fins. This had the opposite effect, as guests were oftent

10. Flight To The Moon -- Disneyland, 1967-1975

This was a simulator that imitated a voyage to Mars.

11. Submarine Voyage -- Disneyland, 1956-1998

This replaced the Phantom Boats. Although the attraction never actually went underwater, bubble jets made it appear so. Guests go to see turtles, mermaid and other various sea creatures.
