"Her autism has created a style of painting which I have never seen in a child of her age, she has an understanding of colors and how they interact with each other.”
Meet Iris Grace. She is a very talented 5-year-old who loves to paint. Iris found her love for painting after being diagnosed with Autism in December 2011.
Her parents took her to multiple doctors and therapists to help her find a way to better express herself. Before painting, her parents said Iris had trouble communicating with them and in other social situations.
She started painting as a way to help with her speech therapy. It was then that her parents realized just how talented she was at it.
According to their website, painting has allowed her to focus for much longer periods of time and is also helping her social interactions improve.
She also has a rare understanding for colors and how they blend together that allows her to create truely incredible paintings.
Perhaps one of the best parts about her painting is that she really seems to love it.
Her parents said, "She beams with excitement and joy when I get out the paints, it lifts her mood every time."
"She has found a way of expressing herself that is so beautiful, so we wanted to share it and thereby raise awareness of her condition." For more information on Iris or autism check out her website below:
