You Have to See These "Mandalas" That Are So Bright, Beautiful, and Relatively Unknown

by N/A, 8 years ago | 2 min read

With a style she calls, "dotillism," Canada-based, Australian artist Elspeth McLean creates mesmerizingly vibrant paintings of mandalas on water-worn, circular ocean stones that have the ineffable ability of calming the soul.

Her mural-like works are colorful and thematic, sharing similar patterns, but donning different, yet equally beautiful, color schemes.

If you're interested in buying any of her creations, you can find her on Etsy.

McLean, who received her diploma in "Art Therapy" believes strongly in the therapeutic healing power of color and art.
She believes that true art - good art - should engage and connect with the soul.
Suffice it to say, her works are certainly tranquilizing to look at.
So what's a Mandala?

A Mandala is a spiritual symbol in both Hinduism and Buddhism, comprised of various symmetrical and geometrical figures and shapes, used to represent the universe as a whole, and it's intwined unity.

McLean states that her "dottilism" method and style of painting, “expresses and celebrates the colours of her soul."

For McLean, she wants to create works that calm the soul and bring joy and vibrancy to people's lives, even if just momentarily.

And to be perfectly honest, if her work doesn't achieve that for you, even a little bit...
There may be something wrong with you.
