The 'Ice Ball Cocktail' Is The Coolest Drink You'll Ever Serve At Parties
This is pure boozy magic.
How delicious does an ice ball cocktail look? I know it also looks complicated, but it's fairly simple to make.
To make your own ice ball cocktail, you need at least four of these five items–the soldering iron is optional.
Grab a spice injector, a little hammer, a funnel and an ice ball mold. You don't absolutely need a soldering iron, but it'll come in handy when you drill a hole in your ice ball later.
Step one: create an ice ball. Fill up your mold with water and leave it in your freezer long enough to form about a quarter inch-thick shell of ice.
This could take up to about three hours, but it depends on the temperature of your freezer. Be sure to flip the mold over half way through the freezing process to make the shell nice and even.
Step two: when the ice ball shell has formed in the mold, create a hole in the top of the ball.
This is where the soldering iron comes in handy, but you can create the hole with your spice injector if need be. Check to make sure the hole is large enough to fit the funnel.
Step three: remove the excess water from the interior of your ice ball.
You may think, "why can't I just pour the water out?" Well, given the tiny size of the hole as compared to the volume of water in the ball, this is more difficult than it seems.
Step four: mix your favorite cocktail and pour it into the ice ball using your funnel.
It doesn't matter what the cocktail is, just make sure to fill it up so it comes up just short of the opening.
Finally, you have your ice ball cocktail. Use the hammer to break it when you serve it to guests.
It's sure to impress–especially if you add a garnish.
